What it is
A Monthly Artifact is a generated image summarizing one month of your writing: a calendar collage of your actual pages plus the month's statistics — pages written, words, writing days.
Why it matters
A month of journaling is an achievement that normally evaporates. The artifact makes it a thing you can keep and show — proof of practice, in your own handwriting, without exposing a single legible sentence unless you zoom.
How it works
Artifacts generate automatically a couple of days after each month ends (on the 2nd). You don't do anything. When a new one is ready, the dashboard shows a gentle "Month has settled" banner — tap it, or find every artifact under Activity → Monthly.
On an artifact's page you can:
- Share it with your device's native share sheet, or download the image.
- Jump to the same month in the interactive calendar to revisit the pages themselves.
Tips
- Artifacts are built from Date Written — backfilling a month's missing pages before the 2nd means they make it into the collage.
- The artifact gallery doubles as a year in review: scroll it each January.
Current limitations
- The current month never has an artifact — months settle after they end. The calendar's share button explains this when tapped mid-month.
- Months with no pages don't generate artifacts.
- Artifacts are generated once per month per user, on our schedule — there's no manual "regenerate now" button. If a month's artifact seems wrong or missing by mid-month, write us at support@sanddune.ai.
