Settings & data export

Your profile, and the button that downloads everything you've written.

What it is

The Settings page holds your profile and the Export your data card. (Subscription management lives on the separate Billing page.)

Your profile

  • First and last name — editable anytime; your first name is how SandDune greets you.
  • Email — shown but not editable from Settings. To change it, write us at support@sanddune.ai from your current account email.

Export your data

One button, one zip, everything you've written:

  • Every transcription as a plain markdown file, one per note, named by date and title (e.g. 2026-03-14-morning-pages.md).
  • notes.json — each note's metadata: title, dates, word count, star, notebook memberships.
  • timelines.json — your Timeline questions with every node's title, answer, and date.
  • A README explaining the contents.

Markdown is deliberately the most portable format there is — the export drops straight into Obsidian, iA Writer, or a plain folder, readable forever, no lock-in. Full details in Export your data.

Tips

  • Export before big life moments — device changes, travel — the same way you'd back up photos. It costs nothing and takes seconds.

Current limitations

  • Export runs once per hour (it's a full-archive operation).
  • Original photos aren't in the zip yet. Each is downloadable from its note in the viewer, and bulk image export is on the roadmap — the export README and our Privacy Policy both say so plainly.
