What it is
A star marks a note as a favorite. The dashboard's star toggle then filters your grid to starred notes only.
Why it matters
Some pages you'll want back monthly for the rest of your life — the decision pages, the letters to yourself, the day everything changed. Stars keep that shortlist two taps away without building any folder structure.
How to use it
- Star / unstar: the star button in the Note Viewer toolbar, or
Son desktop. It fills instantly. - Filter: tap the star toggle on the dashboard (in the button group next to grid/list view). The note count updates — "5 starred notes".
- Combine with search: with the filter on, searching shows starred matches only.
- Swipe within favorites: open a note from the filtered view and the viewer pages through starred notes only.
Tips
- Star sparingly. Ten true favorites beat a hundred vague ones — the filter is only as good as your restraint.
- Stars and notebooks answer different questions: a notebook is where a page belongs; a star is how much it matters. Use both.
Current limitations
- While an Ask answer is showing, the star filter pauses (the answer may cite any note). The toggle explains this if tapped; clearing the search restores your filtered view automatically.
- The star filter and notebook view can't be active simultaneously.
- There's no "sort by recently starred" yet — filtered notes keep their date-written order.
